Toronto-based cannabis producer Aleafia Health Inc. has lost what it said is an immaterial amount of product to theft over the weekend, according to a company release.

Aleafia said it was notified Friday by a third-party transportation company that a vehicle containing a shipment of the company’s cannabis was stolen from the third-party firm’s facility. Aleafia did not name of the transportation company in the release.

The cannabis was bound for wholesale facilities in Ontario and was intended for the adult-use market.

The third-party transportation company has filed a police report and is cooperating with the ongoing investigation, Aleafia said.

Aleafia added that Health Canada and the company’s insurance provider have both been notified of the incident.
