Amazon.com Inc. named former PepsiCo Inc. Chief Executive Officer Indra Nooyi to its board, the second woman appointed to the panel by the web retailer this month.

Nooyi, 63, stepped down as Pepsi CEO in October, and gave up her seat on the board this month. She had worked at the food and beverage giant since 1994. She’ll serve as a member of the Amazon board’s audit committee, the company said Monday in a filing.

Nooyi’s appointment makes five women on Amazon’s 11-member board. Earlier this month, Amazon named Rosalind G. Brewer, a former Walmart Inc. executive, as a director. The Seattle-based company has been criticized in the past for its male-dominated senior leadership.
