Aurora Cannabis is heading to Wall Street.

The Edmonton-based cannabis producer announced on Tuesday it has filed a formal application to list its shares on the New York Stock Exchange.

The news doesn't come as a surprise, after Aurora previously indicated its interest in a U.S. listing.

Aurora said that so long as it receives all the necessary approvals, it anticipates trading on the NYSE will begin later this month under the ticker symbol ACB.

"Through our NYSE listing, Aurora joins an established group of mature global brands with improved access and exposure to an engaged international institutional investor audience," said Aurora CEO Terry Booth in a release.
