Premier Doug Ford is in Texas this week on a trade mission where he will meet with companies and legislators to “advocate for tariff-free trade” between Canada and the United States, his office says.
“Texas and Ontario have a long-standing trade relationship that benefits families, workers, and businesses on both sides of the border. Ontario’s trade with Texas makes up nearly 50% of Canada’s total trade with the state,” Hannah Jensen, a spokesperson for the premier’s office, said in an email
Jensen noted that Texas ranked number two in relation to exports from Ontario and number four for imports to Ontario.
“Ontario is proud to be home to many of the resources, such as energy and critical minerals, that states need and rely on,” Jensen continued.
“We are a world-leader in the nuclear sector and have cemented the province as a secure, reliable supplier of critical minerals. We continue to leverage this advantage to enhance trade relationships and attract investments from around the world.”
