KINGSEY FALLS — Cascades Inc. has sold its private forest lands in Kamouraska and Témiscouata in the Bas-Saint-Laurent region of Quebec to Société de gestion d’actifs forestiers Solifor in a $20-million deal.

The transaction includes 10,500 hectares of forests that Cascades has managed for over 25 years.

The deal was completed on Tuesday.

The company says the agreement will allow development of the land to continue and help secure long-term supply for Cascades’ Cabano plant.

Cascades CEO Hugues Simon says the partnership is a natural and beneficial step for both organizations.

Solifor specializes in private forest property management with over 210,000 hectares of private forest land.
