VANCOUVER — OCI Global says it has sold its last remaining stake in Methanex Corp.

The company says it sold its remaining 2.6 million shares of the company, representing a 3.4 per cent stake, on Monday for US$52.85 per share for net proceeds of US$138.1 million, after customary fees and expenses.

It has been selling its shares in Methanex in recent weeks in a series of block trades.

OCI acquired 9.9 million shares in Methanex last year when it sold its global methanol business to the company in a deal valued at about US$1.6 billion.

The transaction made OCI the second largest shareholder in Methanex at the time with a 12.9 per cent stake.

OCI said Tuesday it no longer owns any Methanex shares.
