TransAlta Q1 profit and revenue down from year ago, power production also lower

CALGARY — TransAlta Corp. reported its first-quarter profit and revenue fell compared with year ago as it produced less power.

The company says its profit attributable to common shareholders amounted to $13 million or four cents per diluted share for the quarter ended March 31.

The result compared with a profit of $46 million or 15 cents per diluted share for the first quarter of 2025.

Revenue for the quarter totalled $565 million, down from $758 million a year earlier.

Power production totalled 5,444 gigawatt hours for the quarter, down from 6,832 GWh a year ago.

On an adjusted basis, TransAlta says it earned six cents per share in its latest quarter, down from an adjusted profit of 10 cents per share in the same quarter last year.
