Maple Leaf Foods reports $46.1M Q1 profit, sales up from year ago

MISSISSAUGA — Maple Leaf Foods Inc. reported a first-quarter profit of $46.1 million, down from $49.6 million a year ago, as its sales rose 6.2 per cent.

The company says the profit amounted to 37 cents per share for the quarter ended March 31 compared with a profit of 40 cents per share in the same quarter last year.

Sales totalled $962.9 million, up from $906.7 million.

Maple Leaf says poultry sales rose 11.7 per cent, while prepared foods sales increased 2.3 per cent.

On an adjusted basis, Maple Leaf says it earned 34 cents per share in its latest quarter, up from an adjusted profit of 21 cents per share in the first quarter of 2025.

Analysts on average had expected an adjusted profit of 30 cents per share, according to LSEG Data & Analytics.
