MONTREAL — Flight simulator maker CAE Inc. says it’s seeking strategic alternatives for Flightscape, its aviation software business.

The company says it will assess a full range of options, including a possible sale of the business.

Flightscape’s software helps airlines manage their operations.

CAE chief executive Matthew Bromberg says the decision comes after a comprehensive review of the company’s portfolio.

He says the review reinforced its conviction in Flightscape as a strong, differentiated business that may be better positioned for its next chapter through alternative ownership or partnership structures.

Last month, CAE said it was laying off two per cent of its workforce and launching a review of operations at three training centres in Brussels, Stockholm and Barcelona, Spain.
