MONTREAL — Metro Inc. has signed a deal to sell its Première Moisson Group bakery facility in Baie-D’Urfé, Que., near Montreal, to FGF Brands for $90 million.
Under the deal, FGF will manufacture and distribute Première Moisson products.
Première Moisson Group will remain a Metro subsidiary and keep ownership of the Première Moisson brand, its network of 25 retail bakeries in Quebec, its in-store production operations and its French pastry production facility in Vaudreuil-Dorion, Que.
Metro says the deal reflects its commitment to focus on its core food and pharmaceutical retail and distribution operations.
Based in Toronto, FGF is one of the country’s largest industrial bakers producing a range of branded and private-label products.
The deal is subject to customary closing conditions and is expected to close during Metro’s fourth quarter, which ends on Sept. 26.
