RICHMOND HILL — DesRosiers Automotive Consultants Inc. says auto sales in October were up from a year ago, marking the fifth consecutive month of sales gains.
The firm estimates 162,000 vehicles were sold in the month, up 1.8 per cent from October 2025.
Higher year-over-year sales came despite ongoing trade tensions, rising inflation and an interest rate hike.
DesRosiers says sales were only about 3,000 units below the highest level for October sales in Canada seen in 2017.
Andrew King, managing partner at DesRosiers, says the market has clawed its way back up from a weak performance early in the year, when auto sales recorded eight months of declines until May.
He says the change in direction has been something to behold.
