More than 30,000 popular SUVs and trucks have been recalled in Canada due to issues that automakers say could increase the risk of a crash.
Transport Canada published a recall earlier this week for 20,521 Ford Escape vehicles from the years 2020, 2021, 2022 and 2025.
“On certain vehicles, the hinge covers for the liftgate may not have been properly attached. As a result, the cover(s) could loosen and detach from the vehicle,” the recall notice said.
“Parts that detach from the vehicle could create a hazard for others and increase the risk of a crash.”
Transport Canada also published a recall this week for more than 10,000 Ram trucks, the majority of which are being recalled due to a software problem that could impact the vehicle’s display screen.
The advisory said that 9,842 Ram trucks of various models from the years 2025 and 2026 are potentially impacted by this issue.
“If this happens, you may not be able to see certain information about the vehicle, including the gear selection, warnings, and tell-tales,” the recall notice said.
“This recall only affects vehicles equipped with a 12″ instrument panel cluster. This recall also affects certain RAM 3500, 4500 and 5500 chassis cab incomplete vehicles.”
An additional 421 Ram trucks made in 2019 are being recalled due to potentially defective side curtain airbag inflators, the notice posted on Transport Canada’s website this week said.
“As a result, the driver and/or passenger side curtain airbag inflator(s) could rupture unexpectedly and metal fragments could be propelled toward vehicle occupants,” the department said. “An airbag inflator that ruptures can create a risk of injury.”
A smaller number of two other Ford SUV models were also recalled this week, according to Transport Canada. A recall notice said 501 Lincoln MKT vehicles from the years 2016, 2017, 2018 and 2019 are impacted by an issue with the trim on the driver and front passenger doors.
Meanwhile, 123 2025 Lincoln Navigators have been recalled due to an issue with the vehicle’s rear lightbar, an advisory warned.
Any owners impacted by these recalls will be contacted by automakers by mail, according to the recall notices, and owners are advised to take their affected vehicles to a dealership to have the issues resolved.
