TORONTO — Aecon Group Inc. says it has purchased a nuclear fabrication facility in Jackson, S.C.

The company says the move will help it support a growing roster of nuclear projects and clients across the U.S.

Aecon says it has used the facility since 2015, and it will play a key role in its fabrication and manufacturing services.

Aaron Johnson, Aecon senior vice president, says the investment builds on its integrated nuclear fabrication network across North America.

Aecon says its nuclear fabrication facilities together support large-scale refurbishment programs and next-generation nuclear projects in North America.

In April, Aecon reported a loss attributable to shareholders of $17.9 million during its first quarter, compared with a loss of $37.9 million a year earlier.
