Aritzia net income almost triples in Q1, revenue also soars

Aritzia Inc.’s net income almost tripled in its latest quarter as the company continued to expand in the U.S.

The Vancouver-based apparel retailer reported $117.3 million in net income during its first quarter, up from $42.4 million during the same period last year.

Its net income per diluted share for the period ended May 31 amounted to 99 cents compared with 36 cents per diluted share a year before.

The company’s net revenue jumped 43 per cent to $951 million in the first quarter, from $663.3 million a year earlier.

Its Canada net revenue alone was up 25 per cent while its U.S. net revenue surged 54 per cent.

On an adjusted basis, its net income totalled $113.9 million, rising from $57.4 million during the first quarter of last year.
