MONTREAL — WSP Global Inc. is continuing its pursuit of Dutch engineering firm Arcadis NV even after its latest offer worth about $7.5 billion was rejected last month for being too low.
In an update required by Dutch regulations, the Montreal-based firm confirmed Thursday its intention to continue to seek a combination with Arcadis through a friendly, recommended public offer.
WSP says it remains convinced that a combination with Arcadis represents a “highly compelling opportunity.”
The Canadian engineering form also says it continues to seek talks with Arcadis to determine whether a mutually agreeable transaction can be achieved.
Last month, WSP made an offer of 51.50 euros per share for Arcadis, up from an earlier bid of 48.50 euros per share that Arcadis rejected.
However, Arcadis said the improved offer continued to undervalue the company and was not in the best interest of its shareholders, employees, clients and other stakeholders.
