TORONTO — Brookfield Capital Partners LLC has signed a deal to buy Reliance Worldwide Corp. Ltd. that values the Australian company at about US$2.8 billion.
Reliance owns a portfolio of plumbing products with operations around the world.
Anuj Ranjan, CEO of Brookfield’s Private Equity group, says Brookfield’s expertise in industrials and the U.S. housing market positions it well to support Reliance in its next phase of growth and over the long term.
The deal follows an offer by Brookfield for the company earlier this year.
Under the agreement, Brookfield will pay US$3.38 per Reliance share in cash.
The transaction, which requires Reliance shareholder and regulatory approval, is expected to close in the first quarter of next year.
