Three products sold in Canada are being recalled following safety concerns also reported in the United States.

Health Canada issued consumer product recall notices for NTI- and HTP-brand residential gas boilers; Harkla children’s compression sensory swings and DREO portable space heaters on Thursday. Each of the companies mentioned in the recalls are offering free remedies, including repair kits, boiler upgrades and replacement heaters.

Consumers who own any of the affected products should stop “immediately stop using them,” according to each of the notices, and follow the companies’ instructions to obtain the appropriate remedy.

Gas boilers pose fire, carbon monoxide risks

Certain NTI and HTP residential gas boilers are being recalled because a component inside the units can crack during delayed ignition, allowing unburned gas to accumulate inside the sealed cabinet.

If the gas ignites, the boiler’s front cover can suddenly detach, creating a risk of serious injury or death from impact, fire or carbon monoxide poisoning.

The recall affects NTI boilers in the FTVN and TFTN series and HTP boilers in the EFTU series. The serial number is printed on the rating plate on the side of the boiler cabinet. Consumers should check the NTI safety recall page or the HTP safety notice page for the affected models and serial number ranges.

The products were sold from May 2021 to August 2025. About 2,261 affected units were sold in Canada and 4,726 in the United States.

As of Oct. 16, the company had received two incident reports and one injury report in Canada. It had received one incident report and no injury reports in the U.S. The company reported 34 total occurrences of the component breaking overall.

The recall said consumers should “immediately stop using” the recalled boilers and contact Ariston Canada Inc. for a free upgrade kit and help arranging installation by a certified technician.

“Consumers who must continue using the boiler while awaiting repair should have working smoke and carbon monoxide alarms in their homes,” the recall said.

The swings were sold from March 2020 to April 2025, with 5,534 sold in Canada and 25,541 in the United States.

As of Oct. 23, the company had received four reports of the hook separating from its mounting plate in Canada, including one injury report. In the U.S., it had received 29 reports of separation and 17 injury reports.

“Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled product and contact Harkla to obtain a repair kit,” the recall said.
