A witness has shared a clip with CTV News showing scenes from the deadly shooting at Mexico’s famous pyramids site.
Tourists are seen running from the Teotihuacan pyramids, north of Mexico City, on Monday in the video shared by “Maria G.” A loud bang that sounds like a gunshot is later heard.
A Canadian tourist was killed in the shooting, though no details were released. A 29-year-old Canadian woman was among at least 13 more people injured in the attack. The Mexican government said Tuesday that the shooting was planned.
Julio Cesar Jasso Ramirez, 27, was the lone gunman and killed himself, according to Mexican authorities. He carried with him literature connected to the fatal U.S. mass shooting at Columbine High School in 1999, according to Jose Luis Cervantes Martinez, the attorney general of the state of Mexico.
