U.S. President Donald Trump continued his rant on Truth Social Sunday afternoon, claiming he had “revived and saved” the automobile business in America via tariffs, calling Canada “one of the worst abusers.”
“One of the Worst Abusers is Canada. I don’t want Canadian cars, I don’t want Canadian parts, I don’t want Canadian anything. They’ve been ripping us off for decades, and it’s going to stop,” Trump wrote in the post.
“This should have happened long ago with other Presidents, just as stopping Iran should have happened long ago. They want to be treated like a State, but they aren’t one. I deal with the Leadership of many Countries, but I find Canada to be the worst. They are entitled no longer!”
In another post following this, the U.S. president encouraged all Canadian companies doing business with the U.S. to move operations south of the border “immediately.”
“Let all Canadian Companies that are doing business with America move to the United States, immediately. Many of them are Companies that moved out years ago due to stupid U.S. Leadership. When you move back, there are no TARIFFS!” the post read.
In an earlier Truth Social post, Trump shared a news article with a caption that said Canada is “on notice” two days after the U.S. inked a deal with Venezuela over its oil reserves.
The article was titled “Trump’s historic oil deal with Venezuela realigns global energy and puts OPEC, Canada on notice” by Just The News, an outlet run by American conservative journalist John Solomon.
Written by Solomon and reporter Misty Severi, the article states that Trump’s deal with Venezuela puts “pressure on OPEC and Canada in the race for energy supremacy.” It quotes an interview with Sam Romain, the chairman of Americans for Energy Dominance, who opined that Canada using its energy exports as leverage in the trade dispute would not work well for Canada.
Trump followed up with a second post over an hour later, saying that Canadian businesses are “pouring” into the U.S.
“We want to make our own cars, etc. That’s what’s going to happen Canada has been ripping us off for years — NO LONGER!” his post reads.
In a separate Truth Social post, Trump also shared another news article from the same organization with the headline: “Christian leaders urge Trump to create legal pathway for Jewish Canadians facing antisemitism.”
According to the article, a national coalition of Christian lawmakers and other community members wrote a letter to Trump, asking the administration to develop a legal route for Jewish Canadians facing antisemitism, to come to the U.S.
