(Bloomberg) --

CNH Industrial NV is pausing output at a range of plants across Europe as the truck and agricultural equipment manufacturer battles shortages of semiconductors and other components.

The Italian-American CNH, whose brands include truckmaker Iveco -- where a spin-off is planned for next year -- sees production ceasing for no longer than eight working days this month, the company said late Wednesday. CNH plants in Europe make trucks and engines as well as tractors.

The global chip crisis continues to affect vehicle makers and suppliers, with a rash of warnings on reduced sales as many companies are unable to keep factories running. The shortage has been particularly acute during the third quarter after chip-making operations in southeast Asia reduced output following renewed Covid-19 outbreaks.
