VANCOUVER — Ksi Lisims LNG LP has signed a long-term supply deal with Centrica Energy for its proposed liquefied natural gas export facility.
Under the agreement, the parent company behind British Gas will buy one million tonnes of LNG per year for 20 years.
Ksi Lisims LNG has proposed a floating export facility located on the northwest coast of B.C. with capacity for 12 million tonnes of LNG per year.
With the Centrica commitment, the company says it has signed agreements covering nine million tonnes per year of its planned capacity.
Houston-based Western LNG is the lead developer and future operator of Ksi Lisims alongside Rockies LNG, a consortium of Canadian natural gas producers, and the Nisga’a Nation, on whose lands the project is planned.
First shipments from the project, which is still subject to a final investment decision, are expected in the early 2030s.
