Erik Ritchie, Chief Commercial Officer of Rise Nano Optics Ltd. (CSE: EYE), discusses the company’s nanotechnology focus on advanced lens protection within the USD$160 billion global eyewear market. Operating across optical retail and eye care professional channels, Rise Nano Optics is positioning itself to meet growing demand for advanced protective eyewear solutions.
SPECTRAGUARD™ nanotechnology sets a new standard for lens protection
Unlike conventional lens treatments focused primarily on UV filtering, Rise has developed a patented nanotechnology coating that addresses a broader spectrum of high-energy light. As an FDA-registered Class I device, and according to Ritchie, the technology “filters 100% of UV light and up to 90% of high-energy wavelengths in the 400–600 nm range, including blue light, without compromising visual clarity or colour perception.”
This combination of full UV filtration, high-energy visible light blocking, and preserved colour accuracy sets SPECTRAGUARD™ apart from existing alternatives. The company believes no other lens performs like it, positioning SPECTRAGUARD™ to establish a new benchmark in protective eyewear.
Sierra Optical Lab partnership opens U.S. distribution through a capital-efficient model
Rise Nano Optics has signed its first U.S. lab partnership with Sierra Optical Lab, a state-of-the-art, VSP®-authorized facility based in Reno, Nevada. Sierra will manufacture and distribute SPECTRAGUARD™ lenses through its established network of eye care professionals while simultaneously supporting the company’s direct ECP sales efforts.
This approach allows Rise to build demand from both the professional and consumer sides of the market at the same time, through clinical channel partnerships and broader direct-to-consumer platforms.
Ritchie frames the significance clearly: “Sierra Optical is our first lab partnership; it won’t be our last. We’re just getting started.” The low-CAPEX model leverages existing industry infrastructure to build out distribution across North America while keeping resources focused on driving awareness and adoption.
A $160 billion market primed for next-generation lens technology
The global eyewear market represents a substantial and expanding opportunity. At approximately USD$160 billion, demand for premium and functional eyewear continues to grow across both professional and consumer channels. Eye care professionals, optical labs, and direct-to-consumer platforms are all scaling to meet this demand, creating a well-established distribution infrastructure that Rise is now tapping into.
As Ritchie noted, “With SPECTRAGUARD™, we meet a clear and growing need within the $160 billion eyewear market.” Rise is entering through a scalable partnership model designed to move fast and capture demand across North America and beyond.
Rise Nano Optics is positioned to lead a new category in protective eyewear
Rise Nano Optics is executing a commercialization plan built on a low-CAPEX model. The Sierra Optical partnership marks a significant step in that plan, and with more partnerships to come, the company is positioned to build a manufacturing and distribution ecosystem that drives awareness and adoption.

Thank you for joining me today.
Over the last few months, our team has been making steady progress as we execute our commercialization plan for SPECTRAGUARD™, our nanotechnology lens treatment. We introduced SPECTRAGUARD™ last month at VisionExpo—the largest eyecare event in the U.S.—where we saw strong interest from across the industry.
Today, I’m excited to share that we’ve now solidified our first lab partnership in the United States—with Sierra Optical Lab, a state-of-the-art, VSP®-authorized lab based in Reno, Nevada. Sierra will manufacture and distribute SPECTRAGUARD™ lenses through their existing network of eye care professionals while also supporting our own direct ECP sales efforts as we continue to build demand in the market through clinical channel partnerships and broader direct-to-consumer platforms.
This low-CAPEX model helps us move fast and scale efficiently by leveraging existing industry infrastructure to build a manufacturing and distribution ecosystem across North America and beyond. And it allows us to focus our efforts on driving awareness and adoption.
Our patented technology filters 100% of UV light and up to 90% of high-energy wavelengths in the 400–600 nm range, including blue light, without compromising visual clarity or colour perception. No other lens performs like it.
With SPECTRAGUARD™, we meet a clear and growing need within the $160 billion eyewear market. And while Sierra Optical is our first lab partnership, it won’t be our last. We’re just getting started.
