Ashley Lastinger, CEO and Director of Altura Energy Corporation (TSXV: ALTU | OTCQB: ALTUF | FSE: Y020), discusses the company’s pure-play helium exploration as artificial intelligence and semiconductor demand accelerate helium consumption, while global supply remains concentrated and vulnerable to disruption. Operating in Arizona’s Holbrook Basin, Altura is positioned to diversify global helium sourcing and capitalize on the emerging green helium opportunity.

Market forecast driven by AI and semiconductor demand

95% of global helium supply comes from LNG by-products concentrated in a handful of countries, creating structural vulnerability when any single facility goes offline. As the helium market grows from US$3.9 billion in 2024 to US$7.5 billion by 2034 on AI and semiconductor demand, supply growth remains constrained by geology and geopolitical risk.

This supply-demand gap creates significant opportunity for producers with execution certainty and contracted offtake. Altura is positioned to capture this opportunity, operating in Arizona’s Holbrook Basin with a buyer already lined up through Linde. With production volumes and pricing locked in, the company effectively removes uncertainty on helium sales and price realization.

Pure-play helium focused on Arizona’s Holbrook Basin

Unlike conventional helium producers tied to natural gas by-product economics, Altura focuses exclusively on pure-play green helium. According to Lastinger, “We have a green helium prospect, meaning that our carrying gas is nitrogen. So, we’ve got a very high concentration of helium between 5% and 8%, which is huge.” This fundamentally shifts project economics and reduces processing complexity.

The nitrogen carry-through also eliminates hydrocarbon co-production concerns, streamlining regulatory approvals and operational footprint. This approach decouples production from volatile natural gas markets and geopolitical dependencies, lowering cost-of-supply, and improving margin stability. The company believes green helium sets a new standard for energy independence and supply resilience.

Multi-phase production ramp and asset reactivation

Altura is executing a three-pronged growth strategy across its Arizona portfolio. The company is bringing seven previously producing wells back online, securing a surface use agreement with the Navajo Nation for new well drilling, and advancing 2D seismic exploration at Puerco Ridge. These milestones are expected to drive material production growth through 2025 and 2026.

Lastinger emphasized the urgency: “It is extremely volatile. When you can wake up and you’ve got an LNG facility that was bombed halfway across the world that now has cut off 30% of your helium supply, I would say it’s fragile.” This concentration of supply risk underscores why Altura’s diversified production model is valuable, not just strategically, but commercially.

Positioned for supply chain resilience in a critical market

As Altura Energy continues to develop green helium production, it stands at the intersection of AI infrastructure growth and critical resource scarcity. With production already in development and exploration upside ahead, the company is positioned to deliver disciplined growth and shareholder value in a market where supply cannot meet accelerating demand.
