• The Whistler Capital Conference marked the 10th anniversary since these unique networking events began
  • Capital Events brings proven results to both issuers and investors by exposing them to new opportunities
  • The conference fosters an easygoing, collaborative environment so investors and CEOs can form meaningful relationships that last beyond the conference walls

The Whistler Capital Conference recently took place between February 12-14 at the Fairmont Chateau Whistler. The event marked the 10th anniversary of this conference.

Whistler was all about a weekend of one-on-one “speed dating” style meetings, networking, skiing, snowboarding or snowmobiling to connect growth-stage companies in the resources, technology, biotech as well as special situations sectors with active top-level capital finance individuals.

The three-day conference fosters the perfect environment for public and private companies with experienced capital market professionals to connect over targeted one-on-one meetings.

Conference highlights

Over the past 10 years, Capital Event Management Conferences have naturally evolved, especially as the market changes. And to date, they have hosted over 60 conferences in 12 different cities across the globe.

Neil Currie, Managing Partner and Co-Founder of Capital Event Management, has now been hosting capital event conferences for 10 years and states he has “Witnessed many different cycles since inception.”

“When we first started, our clientele only existed in the resource space, and since then we have expanded into technology, special situations, and cannabis. What we are seeing right now is actually coming full circle to when we started 10 years ago as we experience a little bit of a resource sector boom.”

Attendees include leading public and private issuers and a range of investors consisting of large book brokers, fund managers, and high net worth investors. Capital Event’s unique format allows principals to establish new and lasting relationships that lead to financings, open market support, and increased awareness with key contacts in the investment community.

Reflecting on the past ten years

Capital Event Management has worked trial and error to ensure the conferences are delivering the highest quality of information and that each attendee, whether it be a CEO or award-winning investor, is getting the most out of the three-day event.

Currie articulates that the relationships built over the three days don’t end there. Once you have attended a Capital Event Conference you are part of a networked community.

Further, the conference is always improving. Currie notes, “We are all about the follow-up, we have built these events to what they are based on taking all the feedback we receive from each and every client very seriously.”

“Also, the top-performing issuer clients usually have to do with timely catalysts and the best way to track that for our investors is through our new investor breakout exchange that we launched to help them measure the success starting the Monday after the event.”

The investor breakout exchange allows attendees to receive exclusive insight and top picks from the annual events held seven times a year across the globe with award-winning investors.

Currie believes that to get the most out of every event everyone who attends should come with an open mind.

“I can promise you that the quality of the presentations will exceed the expectations of each and every new investor that joins us.”
