(Bloomberg) -- A US-Iranian citizen detained in Iran has left the country, the state-run Islamic Republic News Agency said.

Baqer Namazi, who is in his mid-80s, left for Oman on Wednesday, it reported, showing footage of him boarding a plane.

His son Siamak has been granted furlough from prison, US State Department Deputy Spokesman Vedant Patel said earlier.

Baqer was arrested in February 2016 while trying to visit his son, who had been jailed for “colluding with foreign countries.”

Baqer was released on humanitarian grounds, Iran’s Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian told his Omani counterpart in a call late on Tuesday, according to a ministry statement.
