Israel Parliament Speaker Resigns Following High Court Decision

(Bloomberg) -- Israel’s Knesset Speaker Yuli Edelstein resigned on Wednesday, after the High Court instructed him to let the legislature vote on a new speaker.

Such a vote could position Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s chief rival, Benny Gantz, to take control of the Knesset, or Israel’s parliament. Edelstein’s resignation will go into effect 48 hours from now.
