Ivory Coast confiscated $40 million of cocaine in the country’s biggest-ever drug seizure, according to the security forces.

“Security forces launched a maritime operation to seize 411 kilograms of cocaine on the high seas,” spokesman Yves Zogbo Jr said on Tuesday. The cargo is believed to have arrived as a single consignment from Brazil before being transferred onto three smaller boats, he said.

Last year, a multinational operation led to the dismantling of what investigators referred to as the “Spaghetti connection,” in which six Italians, three Ivorians and a French national were arrested for allegedly trying to make Ivory Coast a transit zone for drugs destined for Europe.
