One of the pleasures of hosting The Street is spending two hours a day with some of the smartest minds in Canadian investing.

When the cameras are on, we talk markets, stocks, bonds and corporate news. When the cameras are off, though, we often take a break by chatting about the things we do away from work – family, movies, sports, travel. Sometimes, when those off-camera chats really click, producer Aaron Sobeski and I often try to find a way to continue the conversation on the air.

That’s what we did Tuesday with guest host Lyle Stein and the most improbable story in the world of sports in a long time - the amazing first-place finish of Leicester City in the English Premiership on Monday.

Lyle and I are big fans of professional soccer (Lyle played competitive soccer in his youth, and continues to play today) and got to talking about Leicester City during a break. A little team from a little city beating the likes of Manchester United, Manchester City, Chelsea and Arsenal. 5,000-to-one odds, and huge financial implications for next year. What a story.

Lyle loved the topic and so did I. So Aaron decided to close Tuesday’s show with it. Here’s our chat.
