(Bloomberg) -- Addison Lee Ltd. is offering new and existing drivers enhanced benefits as London’s largest taxi firm bets demand will pick up as the government eases Covid-19 restrictions.

The closely held company’s new package includes sick pay, mental-health counseling and maternity leave, according to a statement Monday. It’s already been trying for months to lure drivers with a 5,000-pound ($6,700) welcome salary for the first month.

The incentives are an early example of U.K. businesses embracing Prime Minister Boris Johnson’s decision to lift most Covid-19 restrictions and transition the country’s approach to dealing with the virus. Companies including JPMorgan Chase & Co., Goldman Sachs Group Inc. and Citigroup Inc. have since encouraged staff to return to offices.

“As Plan B Covid restrictions ease and demand rises, Addison Lee’s new driver offer ensures the best deal in the market for existing partner drivers and new recruits,” Chief Executive Officer Liam Griffin said in the statement. “This enhanced package ensures that we will be supporting our existing partner drivers while growing our fleet to help meet rising demand for safe travel in London.”

Addison Lee first offered the 5,000-pound welcome salary to new hires in mid-October.
