(Bloomberg) -- Police in the Republic of Macedonia issued a nationwide arrest warrant for former Prime Minister Nikola Gruevski, who was sentenced in May to two years in jail for undue influence, the Interior Ministry in Skopje said.

Authorities are looking to detain Gruevski, who must fulfill his jail sentence for influencing officials at the Interior Ministry to buy a luxury car for his personal use in 2012, the ministry said in a statement on its website. Police and the Interior Ministry were not available for comment.

After ruling the Balkan state for more than a decade, Gruevski resigned three years ago following a scandal triggered by leaked tapes that alleged his government illegally wiretapped more than 20,000 people. In 2012, he ordered the Interior Ministry to hold a tender for an armored Mercedes limousine worth 35.2 million denars ($643,000), according to the prosecution in Skopje.
