TORONTO — Canada’s main stock index fell in late-morning trading, weighed down by losses in the base metal and technology sectors, while U.S. stock markets also moved lower.
The S&P/TSX composite index was down 54.62 points at 36,903.01.
In New York, the Dow Jones industrial average was down 116.02 points at 53,461.38. The S&P 500 index was down 1.36 points at 7,675.92, while the Nasdaq composite was down 61.06 points at 26,090.24.
The Canadian dollar traded for 72.01 cents US compared with 72.26 cents US on Tuesday.
The October crude oil contract was down 44 cents US at US$81.92 per barrel.
The December gold contract down US$41.50 at US$4,653.00 was an ounce.
