TORONTO — Strength in the technology sector helped Canada’s main stock index move higher in late-morning trading, while U.S. stock markets were mixed.
The S&P/TSX composite index was up 73.10 points at 34,930.09.
In New York, the Dow Jones industrial average was up 410.55 points at 52,715.79. The S&P 500 index was up 3.04 points at 7,486.27, while the Nasdaq composite was down 169.99 points at 25,870.04.
The Canadian dollar traded for 70.50 cents US compared with 70.37 cents US on Tuesday.
The August crude oil contract was down US$1.04 at US$67.54 per barrel.
The August gold contract was up US$52.60 at US$4,135.00 an ounce.
