(Bloomberg) -- Two senior House Democrats launched an investigation on the National Football League’s handling of allegations of sexual harassment, verbal abuse and other workplace misconduct against the Washington Football Team.

The NFL fined the Washington Football Team $10 million in July following an investigation launched last year after 15 female ex-employees told The Washington Post they were harassed. The league said the workplace environment at the team was “highly unprofessional,” particularly for women, but did not disclose the full findings.

“The NFL’s lack of transparency about the problems it recently uncovered raise questions about the seriousness with which it has addressed bigotry, racism, sexism, and homophobia—setting troubling precedent for other workplaces,” House Oversight and Reform Committee Chairwoman Carolyn Maloney and Economic and Consumer Policy Subcommittee Chairman Raja Krishnamoorthi told NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell in a letter.

Leaked emails from the investigation also led to the resignation of Jon Gruden, who stepped down as head coach of the Las Vegas Raiders after emails he exchanged with an ex-Washington Football Team executive containing racist, misogynistic, and homophobic language surfaced.

Maloney and Krishnamoorthi asked Goodell to provide information and documents related to the league’s investigation against the franchise by November 4, 2021.
