Meanwhile, here are five tips to get you started on the job hunting journey.
1. Looking for a new job is almost a full-time job itself. As you network and scout around, don't drop the ball on your current responsibilities. Send out feelers, explore, and keep it manageable. Slow and steady will ultimately land you the right position.
2. Don't negotiate against yourself by bringing up salary, vacation entitlement or title expectations. If pushed, you can suggest ranges, but be very clear to state all of this is open to further discussion and negotiation.
3. Earn the right to say no. Until you actually have an offer on the table, there is nothing wrong with walking away. So keep pushing forward.
4. Keep your job search confidential and on a need-to-know basis.
5. Know your value and what you are bringing to the table. Don't exaggerate your salary, as most employers will ask for proof of compensation. Never come across as demanding or arrogant. Remember, rarely does a candidate have all the skills an employer is looking for, so highlight the ones you do have. Focus on your strengths.
And finally, if you make it to the interview stage, have your closer ready.
