(Bloomberg) -- A 38-year-old female Chinese patient has been confirmed as the first case of the novel coronavirus in the Philippines.

The patient arrived from Wuhan through Hong Kong on Jan. 21 and was admitted to a government hospital on Jan. 25, Health Secretary Francisco Duque said in televised briefing. The patient is currently asymptomatic, he said.

The Philippines has boosted airport checks, and airlines have advised sick passengers to postpone travel as precautionary measures against the novel coronavirus.
