(Bloomberg) -- A missing worker who was trapped at the Henty Gold Mine in northwestern Tasmania is probably dead, following failed rescue efforts that commenced two days earlier.

“The most likely outcome of our missing work colleague is that he is deceased,” Pybar Mining Services Pty Ltd. said in a statement on Saturday, following a site visit by the Tasmanian state coroner and police.

Operations at the gold mine remain suspended while Pybar works with authorities on an ongoing recovery options.
