MONTREAL - Quebecor's TVA Group has an agreement to buy the Incendo group, a Montreal-based producer and distributor of television programs for international markets, for about $19.5 million.
Incendo's productions have recently received nominations for the 2019 Canadian Screen Awards, including "Second Opinion" -- a medical thriller nominated for best limited series or program.
Its "Twisted" was also nominated for best TV movie at last year's C21 International Drama Awards in London.
TVA Group chief executive France Lauziere says the purchase of Incendo is in keeping with Quebecor's push to increase revenues from other markets and expand its presence in English-language markets.
Since Incendo was formed in 2001, it has produced movies, TV series and documentaries that have been sold throughout the world. It also handles theatrical distribution in Quebec for Paramount Pictures.
Incendo has its head office in Montreal and offices in Toronto and Los Angeles.
