Shoppers Drug Mart is catering to seniors through Wellwise, a new site the company launched Wednesday, in its latest e-commerce push.

The site features products such as compression socks, physiotherapy and mobility products, medical gadgets and personal care items targeted at the aging population.

The site also offers a subscription service that would automatically ship frequently-purchased items directly to shoppers’ homes.

"In creating Wellwise, we put the focus on wellness, not illness," Theresa Firestone, SVP, healthcare businesses, at Shoppers Drug Mart, said in a release. "Wellwise offers an enjoyable shopping experience that gives Canadians the tools and advice they need to age powerfully, not just comfortably."

Shoppers will also be able to collect PC Optimum points on their purchases, but the points won’t show up on members’ accounts until four weeks after the order has been shipped, according to the Wellwise website.

Wellwise also exists as a brick-and-mortar store. Its pilot shop opened in Toronto last September and a second location in Etobicoke, Ont. is set to open in April.
