VANCOUVER - Tahoe Resources Inc. (THO.TO) named James Voorhees as the company's new president and chief executive.

He replaces Ronald Clayton, who is retiring effective Friday.

Voorhees has been a Tahoe director since its inception in 2010 and will remain a director following his appointment to the top job.

Before joining Tahoe, Voorhees was chief operating officer at Glamis Gold Ltd. from 1999 to 2006.

He also held various senior management positions with Newmont Mining Corp., Santa Fe Pacific Gold Corp., and Western Mining Corp.

Tahoe operates the Escobal silver mine in Guatemala, the La Arena and Shahuindo gold mines in Peru and the Timmins West and Bell Creek gold mines in Canada.
