This morning we’ll get the first update on the state of Canada’s labour market for 2019, with economists anticipating the weakest showing since August. A mere 5,000 jobs are estimated to have been created in Canada last month. With a federal election less than a year away, each labour force survey could mean as much to the Liberal government as it does to the Bank of Canada at this point.

IN CONVERSATION WITH GEORGE COPE

We’ve got a feature conversation today with the president and CEO of BCE. Speaks for itself. Watch for the interview on Bloomberg Markets. Standard disclosure: BNN Bloomberg is part of BCE’s Bell Media division.

BEZOS VS. NATIONAL ENQUIRER OWNER

In a blog post last night, Jeff Bezos claimed AMI threatened to publish embarrassing pictures of him and a woman after Bezos launched an investigation into how the Enquirer obtained some of their text messages. His post includes alleged emails his team received from AMI and an acknowledgment that his ownership of The Washington Post is a "complexifier" that makes him a target, while calling out President Donald Trump by name. In a statement, American Media said its board will “thoroughly investigate” Bezos’ claims.
