MARKET OUTLOOK

Green stocks have continued to perform well despite unfavourable political policies in Canada and the U.S. One can only imagine the boost they’d get from real support! Climate change has been climbing the list of voter priorities, with momentum for Green New Deal policies around the world. Here in Canada, the Green party has surprised pundits in the east coast to the west coast, which is no surprise since island residents would be more in tune with climate change risks.

Prices for clean technologies like renewable energy, storage, and LEDs continue to fall. Many green sectors are now cost-competitive with traditional technologies, but lack financing for the up-front costs of construction and deployment. These funding gaps are a huge opportunity for companies and banks that issue green bonds to satisfy investor demand.
