Canada’s main stock index opened higher on Thursday, as markets continued to climb back from steep losses. 

At 9:35 a.m. ET, the Toronto Stock Exchange’s S&P/TSX composite index was up 225.47 points, or 1.72 percent, at 13,364.70.      

U.S. stocks opened  higher as well. The Dow Jones Industrial Average began up 407.15 points, or 1.92 per cent, to 21,607.70. The S&P 500 opened 39.77 points higher, or 1.61 per cent, at 2,515.33. The Nasdaq Composite opened up 124.95 points, or 1.69 per cent, to 7,509.25.
