Pot edibles may leave taste buds wanting under current regulations

If you’re one of those who has enjoyed cannabis edibles, perhaps on the black market or in the U.S., the incoming wave of legal chewables and drinks may leave taste buds much to be desired. A B.C. dispensary owner told The Canadian Press that Canada's proposed edible pot regulations could result in tasteless products wrapped in wasteful packaging. It could also shut out medical patients and fuel a continued black market which has not gone away in the early days of legal cannabis here in Canada. Some dispensary owners consider the proposed regulations from Health Canada too limiting. Currently, the rules state a single serving would be limited to 10 milligrams of THC, the psychoactive ingredient in cannabis, and that each serving must be individually wrapped.

Canopy Growth refiled MD&A after correcting adjusted EBITDA due to calculation error

Oops. Canopy Growth, the world’s biggest cannabis company, had to submit an amended MD&A filing late Wednesday after it had to correct its adjusted EBITDA in the original MD&A for the nine months that ended Dec. 31. The company said its adjusted EBITDA loss over the period was $155,154,000, not the $69,006,000 it previously reported when it posted its quarterly earnings last week. Canopy said the correction was made “due to a formula error in the spreadsheet supporting the year-to-date adjusted EBITDA loss calculation.” Its adjusted EBITDA figures for the quarter and prior quarters was correct as reported, the company added.

Hopes of legal pot in New Jersey unclear as lawmakers remain undecided

How close is New Jersey to legalizing cannabis? It appears to be unclear given that the state’s governor and Democratic legislative leaders are at loggerheads on a bill that would legalize the sale of marijuana to adults for recreational use, according to the North Jersey Record. Despite growing public support for legal pot in the state, the newspaper reports some lawmakers are still unsure whether they will vote in favour of a legal marijuana bill in the immediate future. Pressure is mounting for the Democratic majority to postpone the vote until after ballots are cast in a state election in November.
