(Bloomberg) -- Emirates plans to suspend flights to Nigeria from next month, a decision the Gulf carrier said was linked to challenges in repatriating funds from the African nation.

The Dubai-based airline said it tried every avenue to address the transfer of funds from Nigeria and sought urgent intervention of authorities to help find a solution.

“Regrettable there has been no progress,” Emirates said in a statement. The airline said it will re‑evaluate the decision should there be any positive developments in the coming days on blocked finds.

Reuters reported earlier this month that Emirates had $85 million stuck in the country as of July, a figure that had been rising by $10 million per month.
