The U.S. Senate race in Florida between Republican Rick Scott and Democratic incumbent Bill Nelson is heading to a manual recount, according to an order from Florida Secretary of State Ken Detzner.

Florida published new results on its election website Thursday, showing Scott leading Nelson by 12,603 votes, less than the 0.25 percentage point threshold to trigger a manual recount. That was an increase of 41 votes in Scott’s favor compared with previous totals.

Shortly after the publication of the new results, Detzner’s office emailed a statement confirming that the secretary had ordered the statewide recount. It also called for a hand recount in the race for agriculture commissioner.

In the governor’s race, Republican Ron DeSantis still led Democrat Andrew Gillum by 33,683 votes -- a swing of just one in Gillum’s favor -- and the margin appeared too great for a manual recount.
