(Bloomberg Markets) -- Nadia Calviño, Spain’s economy minister, was elevated last year to deputy prime minister. Here she divulges some off-duty habits and preferences to Bloomberg TV’s Francine Lacqua, co-­anchor of Bloomberg Surveillance and host of Leaders With Lacqua.

What’s something that you’ve tried for the first time recently?

I gave the opening speech of the annual Feast of Betanzos, a wonderful historic town in Galicia. This meant walking through the streets in a large parade with two music bands, traditional costumes and dances, and speaking in front of 50,000 people. I wasn’t forewarned, and this was clearly outside my comfort zone. I’ll never forget it!

Who’s your favorite new emerging musical artist?

I really like and admire the work of Rosalía, although I guess she doesn’t qualify as new or emerging anymore.

What’s the best book you’ve read recently?

I read Ulysses for the first time during the spring. It was challenging but worth the effort. I am currently reading Economic Ideas You Should Forget by Bruno Frey and David Iselin, a compilation of short articles on the weaknesses of various traditional economic concepts and ideas.

What’s the best show you’ve streamed recently?

Not much of a TV person, I’m afraid. I very much enjoyed the documentary The Beatles: Get Back.

What living or historical person do you truly admire?

I truly admire all persons who work hard and fight for building a better world and in particular women who fight for gender equality.

What’s the best advice you’ve gotten?

Be yourself and don’t take work-related issues personally.

What’s the best advice you’ve given?

I hope my advice has been useful to the brilliant women I’ve tried to support during my professional career. But you should ask them!

If you were 20, what business would you get into?

Well, I would most likely go again into public service. In the private sector, I would love to build a startup in the area of education.

What’s your favorite museum or artist?

Beyond the excellent museums in Madrid, which I visit quite often, I strongly recommend discovering the Helga de Alvear museum, a top-level contemporary art collection in the outstanding medieval setting of Cáceres.
