Corus Entertainment Inc. chief financial officer Tom Peddie will retire in August, to be succeeded in the role by John Gossling, who recently left the CFO’s job at Telus Corp.

Mr. Peddie has been a steady presence at Corus since its inception as a public company in 1999, and most recently helped stickhandle the company’s $2.65-billion acquisition of Shaw Media.

The long-time CFO stayed with the company last fall when the company’s new chief executive officer, Doug Murphy, shuffled the company’s executive ranks. But Mr. Peddie will now work with Mr. Gossling through the summer on a transition.

“Throughout his distinguished career at Corus, [Mr. Peddie] has consistently delivered exceptional financial leadership and valued strategic input as we have grown the business,” Mr. Murphy said in a statement.

Mr. Gossling’s departure from Telus was announced in mid-May. He previously held senior roles at Rogers Communications Inc., and was CFO at the former CTVglobemedia.

“I am excited about joining Corus at this historic point in the company’s evolution,” Mr. Gossling said in a statement.
