There’s no shortage of Raptors supporters in Canada this playoff season, but there’s one fan in particular who has caught everyone’s attention.

Nav Bhatia, known as “The Superfan”, has attended every Toronto Raptors home game since the NBA franchise’s debut season in 1995. He immigrated to Canada from India with his wife in 1984 and eventually became a successful businessman. He owns two car dealerships, where he uses the same passion he has for the Raptors to sell vehicles.

“This country has given me all kinds of opportunity,” Bhatia told BNN in an interview. “Twenty-one years ago I could only afford two [Raptors] tickets. Now I have 10 tickets – six on the courtside, two on the platinum side.”

Bhatia is one fan that has, quite literally, been there through it all.

“I’ve seen some bad times and some good times – more bad times than good times. And right now is the best time as a Raptors superfan or Raptors fan,” Bhatia said.

Bhatia is, of course, referring to the historic playoff success the Raptors have enjoyed this postseason. Although the team lost the first two games of the Eastern Conference Finals against the Cleveland Cavaliers, the team hasn’t let down its biggest fan.

“We have overachieved for the season so far,” Bhatia said. “It’s not all that negative for us. We weren’t supposed to be here in the third round.”

Bhatia’s positive attitude and love for people has helped him meet fans across the country and form a community of support for the team.

“I love people – and I treat people the way I want to be treated,” he said. “I get an opportunity to bring a lot kids from [all kinds of communities] to come and enjoy the game and sort of be a part of this.”

Bhatia spent the first two games of the series with the Raptors in Cleveland – and will continue cheering them on from courtside in Toronto this weekend.
