The U.K. goes to the polls on Thursday in the first December election since 1923, with cold weather and early nights hampering canvassing and possibly deterring voters. Yet with so many constituencies on narrow majorities, and so much at stake in this once-in-a-lifetime ballot, all parties are attempting to motivate supporters. That may help turnout, which typically is in line with the European Union average.
