WHISTLER, B.C. - Whistler Blackcomb Holdings says visits to its all-season resorts were down in its latest quarter compared with the same time last year, partly because there were fewer winter operating days.

The figures were released two days after the B.C. resort operator announced a friendly takeover offer by U.S.-based Vail Resorts worth nearly $1.4 billion.

Whistler Blackcomb's third quarter report issued Wednesday showed a bigger loss than last year -- $14.1 million or 21 cents per share compared with a loss of $9.8 million or 14 cents per share.

Revenue was $36.9 million, up from $35.2 million, while revenue per visit rose from $87.63 to $94.32.

For the nine months ending June 30, which spans the 2015-16 winter skiing season, Whistler earned $52.7 million or $1.08 per share, up from $32.2 million or 70 cents per share a year earlier.

Revenue was $278.7 million over those nine months, up from $226.7 million in the previous year.
